Event description Marcelo Staricoff, FCCT, NPQH, PHD presents an introductory briefing on The Joy of Not Knowing (JONK) philosophy of education and leadership exclusicely for the Headteachers of Ealing Primary Schools.

The Joy of Not Knowing (JONK) philosophy of education and leadership focuses on key principal areas of influence, linked to the new Inspection Framework’s three stage vision of excellence: Intent, Implementation, Impact.

JONK establishes an ethos and culture based on values, philosophical enquiry, children’s rights, critical and creative thinking and lifelong learning dispositions designed to maximise children’s enjoyment of learning, their well-being, their life chances and the school’s potential of collective efficacy by embracing leadership at all levels.

JONK establishes a framework for developing in pupils a love of not knowing, removing worry and barriers from the learning process and instilling an intrinsic motivation to want to learn; helping children to develop a deep and lifelong love of learning and to develop the capacity for schools to evolve and adapt within the continually changing educational landscape and national evidenced-based reports.

Venue: Montpelier Primary School
Cost: FREE
Training objectives The implementation of JONK enables schools to promote:
- an inclusive and non-hierarchical staff and student structure for school improvement
- pupils who all believe that they can succeed as individuals, inquisitive lifelong learners, critical thinkers and global citizens
- children who develop all the values and dispositions and attitudes of successful lifelong learners, contributors to employment and society
- students who develop the independence, metacognition and strategic awareness that enables them to become leaders of their own learning and partners of the school improvement initiatives
- a curriculum that is delivered using the latest evidence from educational research and that promotes at all times philosophical enquiry and critical and creative thinking
- the school as a centre of excellence, active in educational research and rich in pedagogical debate
- transformational links with families and the local, national and global communities, including learning and thinking through a bilingual approach
